A poem by Rabbi Paula Marcus
Sunrise in the Middle East |
Go to yourself
And learn who you are
The way you'll find out
Means you must travel far
To a place you don't know
Where the fear and the rage
Shows you how people live
When they're locked in a cage
Our father and mother
Left their own home
The voice that they heard
Helped them journey alone
The place where they lie
Is now honored by all
Many tears have been shed
On each side of a wall
May the wounds in our hearts
Lead us towards a new day
May the truth we discover
Help us find a new way
May we all hear this call
May all people be free
To build a new future
In peace and security
[*Lech L'cha- go to yourself or go out]
