Many of us have been following, closely, this week's news around the UNESCO vote to include Palestine as a new member. We've been discouraged by the Obama Administration's response: withdrawing support and funding from UNESCO and further demoralizing Palestinian activists and nation builders.
Here's a link to a report from the group, Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP), with their take on the week's events. As US citizens, we don't control every aspect of this conflict. But it sure seems that we can hold our government accountable for its own values and ethics. When over a hundred nations vote for the inclusion of Palestine in UNESCO, must we punish everyone when the vote doesn't go our way?
